The basic process for creating a fine mosaic wall art often follows these steps:

The correct substrate for the piece is selected and the "cartoon" of the basic design to the final size is drawn. Selecting tile for each area of the work is done at this stage.

The main objects of the art work are always worked first and then the objects of lesser importance are added. The background is always saved for last.

The background itself can also be a work of art, creating designs, movement and excitement through the lines of the tiles. This process is called "andamento".
